Happy Thanksgiving

It looked more like Christmas than Thanksgiving this year!  Wednesday, it snowed 4 inches or so on our side of the mountain.  It was really pretty and definitely put us in the holiday spirit.  Jeff, Emily, Hailey and I went to lunch with my parents at Stella, Bella, and Lucy's since our plans to go to Michie Tavern got canceled due to the weather.  Lunch was fabulous other than the glass of ice water that the waitress spilled in my lap during the first 5 minutes!  Jeff had to take me back home to change because I was soaked and freezing.  I was a good sport about all of it though and enjoyed our lunch.

Thursday, Mike and I went up to my parents for lunch.  We had a very yummy Thanksgiving meal and lots of fun some lottery ticket wheeling and dealing.  Mike and I walked away with a good chunk of cash.:)  Hailey didn't make it in time for Thanksgiving, but did get to go spend some time at Mike's new place and then spent the night with me.

Yes, please.
Jeff had to work on Thanksgiving, so I headed to the station to hang out with him and meet some more of the guys.  We had a very carb heavy dinner too.  It was nice to get to spend some time with his other family at the station.

No shave November is almost over!

Turkey day fun

Today was our last day of school before the break so we had Activity Period.  I went across the street and picked up Emily so she could see what the all the craziness was like.  I think she had a good time making oreo cookies, lava lamps, marshmallow shooters, etc.  I was more than happy to get out of the door at 4:00!

Shooting practice

I took a little break from school on Monday to practice shooting so that I can get out in the woods with Jeff soon.  I hadn't ever shot a rifle, so it was a new experience and a lot of fun.  It's very nice to be with someone that has fun doing the same things that I do...Not to mention, he's a pretty good teacher.  Now we just need to find some time to get out into the woods.

Meet Mr. Jake Jake

Love this stretch in WVA, no one on the highway

Amy and I made a "quick" trip to visit Megan in Pittsburgh over the weekend.  It was just our luck that I79 was closed due to an accident two miles before we were supposed to get off to go to Megan's house!  We made the best of it and took an alternate route off another exit...had to keep driving until the GPS stopped screaming at me to make a u-turn. :)  After almost 7 hours, we made it!

Not a day older than high school seniors ;)
We got to spend some quality time with AP and finally got to meet Mr. Jake Jake.  Both of the boys were really good.  The highlight of my weekend was when AP came down before his bath naked running around in a cowboy hat.  He later found my cowboy boots and tried those on too.  He's quite a character.

Megs treated Amy and I to a nice dinner out on the town.  My pork chop was very good and the company was even better.  Unfortunately, I had a headache most of the drive and visit, but luckily it went away after I went to sleep at 7:00 pm on Sunday!

Sleepovers and Cooking

I'm not sure how these girls have the energy to go and go and go all day, but they can play all day and then still want to stay up all night.  We made peanut butter balls and listened to Christmas music on Saturday.  However, we also ate all the pb balls Sunday!  Jeff and I made some yummy chicken and wild rice soup on Sunday.  The recipe is here

Emily was cute when she told me that Hailey is the only friend that she has that will let her snuggle when they go to sleep.  They really do love each other.

Hunting and Pre-Thanksgiving

Jeff has been getting out in the woods or on the farm quite a bit, but has yet to shoot anything.  The weather has been a little crazy, back and forth between hot and cold.  He has seen plenty of turkeys and some small deer but nothing worth shooting yet.  However, he did see some cute "common minks" running in and out of the creek the other day.  We had to look them up online to figure out what he actually saw.  I had no idea we even had these ferret looking things around here.

Nothing but turkeys on most days
Since I had extra time off because of election day, I decided to go ahead and make a pre-Thanksgiving turkey dinner.  It actually didn't take me too long because I got a turkey breast to roast.  I think I could eat this meal a hundred times and not get tired of it.

Milkshakes and makeovers

Just a few shots from a fun last week...

Jeff and I made chocolate milkshakes and had popcorn Saturday night even though we didn't even start the movie we were going to watch.  Oh well!  We also searched from a new love seat for the living room, but didn't find anything we really liked that was also on sale.

Hailey and I spent Sunday working on cleaning up her room.  I really wish I had a before photo because the amount of junk and toys was ridiculous.  It took us pretty much all day, but everything that she kept is organized and and put away.  The transformation is incredible.  I'm in the process of working on the other bedroom now.  A lot of things just got moved to Mike's new place, so that is helpful.

Someone had 2 milkshakes!

After photo of Hailey's room...she's obviously enjoying the space!

So nice and neat!

80's day

For member appreciation day each year we have 80's day at Powerhouse.  The best part besides the blue eyeshadow, fluorescent colors, and legwarmers was the MUSIC.  No earbuds for me today!
