The garden is producing like crazy, so we are having to cook and bake a lot! I made my lemon zucchini cake and baked some oatmeal this week. We've also spent plenty of time reading on the deck, watching thunderstorms and rainbows, and spent some time with friends!

2nd Anniversary
We celebrated our anniversary at the beach, but gave each other these gifts when we returned! Love them both so much!

Return from the Beach
| These two tried on some back to school clothes :) |
So depressed to be back home.....Ugh. However, we brought back some seafood with us and made shrimp burgers and grilled fish to ease us back into reality while we unpacked and cleaned shells.
The girls read their journals to Grandma which were much improved this year and we worked on some shell crafts.

Emerald Isle Day 7
This was NOT the way we wanted to end our trip to the beach. A nasty storm system rolled in and was expected to drop 3-4 inches of rain Friday and Saturday. We decided it was best to take a quick walk on the beach and then pack up and leave a day early. Booooo! It's a good thing that we left because for the next couple of weeks there were red flags out, no swimming, and even a couple of drownings. :(

Emerald Isle Day 6 (Happy Anniversary!)
Jeff and I took our early morning 2nd anniversary stroll after watching the sunrise and found a couple signs of hearts:)
We spent the entire day on the beach. The girls caught lots of little clams, played in the sand, found a small black crab, and met a cute little friend. Jeff and I were able to relax and read plenty. We met up with Diane (from last year) which was awesome! We found out where her beach house is - "the wobbly box"! haha She brought the girls some more shells and kept us entertained. She even offered to babysit the girls if we wanted to go out.
After our annual "selfie stick" photo ops we headed to the Sweet Spot for ice cream and then out on Bogue Pier. The pier has been renovated and is soooo much nicer!
