Emerald Isle Day 3- Shackleford Banks

We started off the day with the usual sunscreen application and headed to the water.  At lunch time we decided to go ahead and make the trip to Shackleford Banks because it was supposed to stay relatively cloud and not too hot.  It was the best spur of the moment decision because we ended up being there during low tide and there was hardly anyone on the island.  For a large portion of the trip we were by ourselves way out in the water digging in the sand with our toes to find conch and welk shells.  Once we got our technique down we were unstoppable.  The ferry ride was awesome and we can not wait to go back again!  It was definitely the highlight of our trip! We didn't get to see any of the wild horses, but we did see one on our way back from the ferry as well as lots of dolphins!
