Emily was out of school for the day, so was able to join me for our 6th grade social and have a little fun in the afternoon. She got her face painted, watched the crazy 6th graders and chased down the hornet to get her picture taken. We practiced her math skills by selling candy as well. It'll only be a couple of years before she is attending dances herself!

JMU Football!
After waiting over a year to make it to a JMU football game, all it took was a last minute decision and we were off to see the Dukes. Emily was hesitant at first because she "doesn't like football" but that didn't last any time at all. As soon as we were on campus, checking out the bookstore, and up in the stands she was nonstop cheering and super excited!
It was a perfect game to go to because we had plenty of room around us, but still great seats and the game was more than entertaining with a final score and school record of 80-7!!!! Crazy, huh? Emily loved the canons that would fire and streamers that would fly after every touchdown.

Wildlife Center Tour
After talking about it for a year, we finally signed up and made it to a tour at the Wildlife Center of Virginia. We got to tour the hospital and learn about the education animals, like Delphine the opposum and lots of birds! Emily loved visiting the animals!

Kitty
A few nights ago while we were walking the dogs we heard a cry from the bushes. Jeff went to investigate when I told him it was a kitten that I couldn't reach and pulled out a little gray kitten about 6 weeks old that was crying out in distress. He put it back because we had the dogs and said to leave it alone and see if the mother would return.
The following day, the kitten was still meowing and scared so I convinced the neighbors to keep it in the garage and feed it for the night. They thought they had found a home for it, but when that fell through I had plenty of volunteers from school to help get it to the SPCA. My goal was to find it a home first, so we kept it in the garage for a night and then Jeff brought it to school. I knew once people saw it someone would take it home. My stop in the office did just that! After the kitten ran all over the desks, Alissa found it a home with her daughter-in-law and my day was made!
Good luck little kitty!
