Finley's First Trip to Kline's

Reading is always part of the morning routine!

How many pots of green beans have we cooked this season?  At least four...I am losing count!

We need to replace the tree in our front yard so we made a trip to the garden center to look at prices and pick up some cold weather plants for the garden.  We ended up with broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts.

Finley has rarely gotten out of the house in the last six months because of COVID, so she was very happy to run around and look at all of the plants!

After the garden center, we took Finn to Kline's for her first milkshake and ice cream experience.  Only the drive thru is open, so we got our ice cream and drove to the park to eat it. Unfortunately there are so many geese at the park that we had a hard time even finding a place to sit or walk around because of all of the poop!  Yuck.

It is fair to say she much preferred Dada's chocolate shake to Mama's vanilla ice cream.  She said "more" plenty of times!

Finley wanted to walk over to the geese and was not happy when it was time to go home.

Finn loves watching Simple Songs - nursery rhymes, especially Old MacDonald.  We rarely let her have screen time, but I have been using these quick songs to get her to sit still to trim her fingernails.

These two...

Another sweaty workout done.

Finn's fun food truck at YaYa's.

Exploring at YaYa's house while Dada puts up YaYa's new birdfeeder.

Yep, it is time to get ready for FALL!!  We started it off right with a couple of pumpkin pies.  Toots loves being able to watch the mixer and help any way that she can.

Finn's signature move - pat the seat for someone to sit down with her. :)

Grilled chicken pesto bowl with chard, squash, zucchini, and tomatoes from the garden.

Watching the hummingbirds.

Virtual Open House

My new normal- Zoom meetings during all three weeks of our planning days.  Sometimes I stay upstairs while Finley naps and other times I go down to the office in the basement while Jeff or YaYa watches Finn.

I bet if you asked Finley what he favorite thing is these days she would say the car.  She loves to get in the Highlander and turn on music, play with my keys and chapstick, and ask me to shut the door.

Just girl and bags of powdered sugar from the pantry!

Our first virtual Open House for school was tonight.  My Zoom meetings actually went really well and it was nice to see all of my students' faces.  Hopefully this is a good sign for things to come! Jeff was at work during the Open House, so my Mom came down to help with Finley.  This pushed her bedtime back and boy was she fussy and tired when I came upstairs.  I do have to admit I like holding her when she falls asleep since it is rare these days. :)

Dada made us some yummy burgers on the Blackstone tonight.

Poor Jack's cancer is back on his leg and this time it is inoperable.  We will just keep an eye on him and make sure that he is comfortable.  We have increased his prednisone to help with the inflammation, but that also makes him pant like crazy and beg for food all day long.  Poor guy was not feeling well today and was hiding in the girls bathroom.

This girl loves stealing my shoes!

Finley's reminder to stop and smell the flowers and not worry so much!

YaYa's Birthday

Our little gardener loves picking "matos" from the garden. They often don't make it back inside without bite marks!

For YaYa's birthday we picked up the special sandwich (turkey, bacon, provolone, spinach and blackberry jam) from Stella, Bella and Lucy's and ate it at our house.  YaYa opened up her new shepherds hook and bird feeder. Well, Finn opened most of the gifts, but YaYa got to watch. :) How is YaYa 70 years old?!

I was able to sneak in a few minutes of reading outside during Finn's nap.  I do not want summer to end!

This was my middle of the night view.  She was smiling in her sleep just like she used to do as a baby.

She still occasionally makes crazy faces in her sleep too.  I often hear her say Mama or sigh Dada in her sleep as well. It is too cute!
