Snead Cornhole

After a month or so of work on and off, we've completed our Snead Cornhole boards.  I'm happy with the result although we had several irritating issues while building and painting them.  Grrrrrr.  They aren't perfect, but they are ours and will be put to good use in the backyard this fall!

Tired of bending over to paint and paint again

Almost final product, had to touch up some spots and put a clear coat on

First Cheerleading Game for Hailey

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes....shy Miss Hailey Bailey has decided to start cheerleading.  Her first game was at Wilson High School.  It was 95 degrees and they had to be out there for 4 hours!!  She didn't complain and did such a good job following along!

Looking hot and tired

Glad to have a minute of shade, water and grapes!

Happy birthday, Mom!

With all the craziness of the first week of school for me, we still made it out to Blackjack's for dinner with my mom for her 66th birthday!  It was the first time Emily had been to Blackjack's and she loved the BBQ. Unfortunately, dad was still hooked up to "buddy" but he was hanging in there and enjoyed his fresh Gulf shrimp.  Mom received her usual funny birthday card along with a gift card to Amazon and framed wedding photos.  It was a very nice night!

Few last fun days before school for me

We tried to spend some time outside and do a few last summer activities before the school year started for good.  Both girls spent lots of time playing in their new playroom in the basement and playing with the dogs outside while Jeff and I worked on projects in the basement.

Jeff and I also broke out the guns and went to the sportsman's club to shoot.  My rifle is all set for hunting season!  I am confident shooting it, that's for sure.  Just need to practice shooting without a rest.

Greenbean pickers

Those are right on

Golden Selfie Winners!

I made these two humor me and participate in a local television contest that was called "Golden Selfie."  The rules were to take a photo of yourself in front of the television while you were watching the 2016 Olympics.  So we grabbed our bathing suits and goggles and took a photo during women's diving.  The goggles were my mom's idea, except she suggested that we take one of Emily.  What's the fun in that?  We all got in on it and guess what?

We won a 32 inch television for it!  :)

Doggie Days

We had gorgeous weather this past week and boy did we get outside and enjoy it!  Jack made himself at home on the slope of the hill and caught some rays while the other two did plenty of rolling around in the grass.

You can tell that it's not humid

Lake Moomaw 2016

It's the last week of my summer break and we FINALLY took the boat out to fish!  I guess planning a wedding and preparing for the beach took up a lot of time;)

Lake Moomaw was gorgeous, just as pretty as last year at this time when we visited.  However, with the water temperature 82 degrees the fish just weren't biting.  Jeff caught one large mouth bass and we had lots of bluegills after our lures, but that was about all the excitement we had.

We could have stayed into the evening and probably done much better, but the Olympics and dinner were calling our names.  When we left there was only one other boat on the entire lake, so nice and peaceful!

Stop taking pictures and fish

Fun in the Sun Photo Winner!

Woot! Woot!  The girls were in the Daily Progress after I entered a vacation photo contest!

First day of 3rd and 4th grade!

I know everyone says it every year...can you believe how much they've grown up?!  Jeff and I met Emily to wait for the bus, this year she is at a new apartment.  Then we headed out for breakfast at Cracker Barrel....mmmmm!

Emily ready for the bus

Excited for 4th grade

Love these two

Thanks Grandma and PaPa for the backpack

I didn't get to see Hailey, but she said she had a good first day too!

Last weekend before school

This is what happens when you find bug gear on sale at Michael's.  She looks ready for bugs or ghosts!

Emily caught plenty of spiders and other bugs with her new gear and actually did some research on the computer about them.  It's so nice to see her so interested in learning!  We had some playtime outside, a trip to the pool, and lots of time trying to figure out what to do with all of our tomatoes!

Playtime
We tried a new recipe for making marinara sauce and ended up with 16 cups that we froze to use over the summer.  The only bad part is that we now have another table full of tomatoes to process in one way or another!  They just keep on coming!

Happy 66th Birthday, Dad!

Happy, happy birthday to the man who taught me so much!!!

Yep, loved fishing back then

Emily and I joined Mike and my parents for lunch at SBL to celebrate.  Jeff was planning on joining us, but he got stuck at training.  Other than the food taking forever, lunch was great!  Dad was extra lucky with his lotto tickets this year!

Selfie with PaPa

Emily was able to eat her PBJ and potato salad a day after her teeth being pulled
When dad got home he received all of the cards that had been coming during the week, over 50 of them!  The Caring Bridge request to shower him with cards took off and he was completely surprised!
