We certainly had zero plans going into our road trip, but considering the circumstances it was amazing! Jeff and I left Monday morning for Grand Rivers, KY to pick up our NEW boat!! Unfortunately, after feeling bad for several days I went to the doctor on Sunday and was diagnosed with the flu. I got my flu shot this year, so I'm guessing that's why it wasn't quite as bad as it could have been. Nothing was going to stop me from going to get our boat, so I loaded up on cough medicine and alka seltzer and we were on the road.
It took us about 8 hours to get to Nashville which I was dying to see one way or another. A quick drive through downtown told us that driving a large truck is not the way to go with the parking situation. Once we had that figured out, we walked down Broadway and saw lots of famous honky tonks. It was hysterical to see how many people were already drunk and bar hopping at 3:30 in the afternoon. We popped into Tootsie's, Robert's and some others to hear a little music. We didn't stay long because we wanted to check out the shops and get some dinner before figuring out where we were going to stay.
I was blown away back the western wear shops and was in heaven with the rows of boots and hats! We each got a hat and some amazing boots! Then we stopped by Jack's BBQ and had a yummy meal before deciding to hit the road.
We ended up driving another hour and a half and made it just outside of Grand Rapids, KY so we would be very close to the boat dealership in the morning. Our hotel was super clean and only $52 a night. Score!
