Finley wanted to go to the zoo this summer, but it takes almost 2 hours to get to the Richmond Zoo. We decided the Safari Park would be a good compromise - shorter distance and plenty of animals. It was sooooo much fun! We picked a day in the 70's so the weather was perfect and not too hot. We got there when they opened at 9:00, but we had to wait to get in because their systems were down from the thunderstorms the night before. This worked to our advantage because we were able to walk through the zoo portion of the park without many people around at all! We had the entire bird cage to ourselves which was a highlight for sure. The birds were landing all over us; pecking my watch, landing on Finley's head, etc. She is still talking about this experience!
The drive thru portion was hysterical as well. My Highlander is covered in slobber. We kept the windows up when the llamas or ostrich's came up to the car or anything big like the moose or cows. Finley loved feeding the smaller deer and laughing at the faces the animals were making as they approached the vehicle. We learned our lesson when we took Emily 7 years ago that you can't hold your whole bucket of feed or they will try to steal it!
All in all, it was a wonderful experience! Finley's squeals and laughter were the absolute best part!
