We had Emily and Hailey for the Kentucky Derby, but they aren't quite as into the races as we are. Emily picked Improbable (5) and Hailey picked By My Standards (3) or Country House (20) to win. After reviewing the race, Maximum Security was disqualified which made Country House the winner. This is the first time the winner has ever been disqualified in the derby. Although it was a letdown for fans, this ended up working out great for us because I picked Country House on a $2 bet and ended up making $126. In fact, I started the races on Friday with $65 in my TVG account and ended up with $242! I've never done so well betting!
For dinner we had beef brisket with a rub that we did in the slow cooker, fresh green beans, homemade mac n cheese and coleslaw. Yum! We ended the night with blueberry pie and ice cream. There was no crazy drinking during the races since this year we have Miss Finley girl!
Unfortunately, our derby day was quite interrupted when we realized that the AC was not working. UGH. We had to pay someone to come out only to tell us that the entire unit needs to be replaced and could cost up to $10,000. This was NOT what we wanted to hear. So for now we have one window unit in that we have to move at night to our bedroom. It is super loud when we are trying to watch tv. We had a coworker's husband come out yesterday to look at the unit and he is supposed to be getting us a quote as well. It still looks like it will take at least a week to get it installed. Boooo!
Ummmm, this happened after the races when we tried to sit outside to relax. Not so much with this little spitter upper. haha.
LOVE this expression....Finley is not a fan of the AC being broken!
Hailey got to meet Finley for the first time. She was hesitant to hold her because she is so tiny. :)
