Strawberry Picking and School Lunch

It was super nice to get out of the house today!  I feel like it is Groundhog's day most days.  We headed over the mountain to Critzer's Family Farm to do some strawberry picking.  I can't believe that we haven't been strawberry picking before with the girls.  After seeing posts on FB I determined it was safe to get out and go.

We stopped and picked up Chic-fil-a on the way.  We were shocked when Finley wanted to eat some of my chicken sandwich in the car.  Every piece I gave her she scarfed right down.  This is the same girl that will barely eat anything, especially meat, at home.  Who knew! She didn't even get any of the fried crust, but loved it.

Besides being quite windy, the weather was great and everything was very well laid out so that people could keep their distance.  Each group was assigned to their own row!

Of course Fin liked picking the leaves off and ripping them the most, but she did steal a strawberry and ate that as well!

The homemade strawberry ice cream was delicious, not too sweet.

We ended up with 8 pounds of strawberries. When we got home we washed and hulled a bunch and then flash froze them before storing them in freezer bags.  We plan on making some jam at some point.  In the meantime, we ate lots of strawberries with homemade whipped cream and homemade pound cake.

After strawberry picking, we stopped by school since it was teacher appreciation week.  They had a food truck set up with free meals for us.  I took mine home to eat for dinner since we had already had lunch.  It is still so strange to be back in the building!   I watered my tree that was looking quite pitiful and got a few things I needed from my room.

Somehow we went from hating cheese to loving it and not being able to get enough!
