What a mess, literally. Someone sent their baby to daycare after she had thrown up the night before and the sickness spread like wildfire. Finley was exposed on Monday and by Tuesday night she woke up throwing up all over her crib. This was our first time with a stomach bug and boy of boy was it a nightmare. Jeff stayed home with Finn Wednesday, covered himself with a towel just in case, and fed her one ounce bottles throughout the day. She seemed to be feeling better so we took her out for walk when I got home. You can tell in the pictures that she looks sleepy but much better. Unfortunately, the puking resumed that evening.
I stayed home with her on Thursday and she threw up all over me multiple times and end up throwing up bile. That was when I decided we needed a doctor's visit. They didn't diagnose her while we were there but said to continue the small feedings and try zofran. The zofran was successful for 6 hours or so and then the throwing up returned. To make matters worse, Thursday afternoon I started feeling bad. By 6:00 pm I was throwing up as well and Jeff had to take care of Finley on his own. It broke my heart that it was my first night not being able to nurse her at bedtime. I ended up going to the doctor in the morning because I had a fever. They said it was likely norovirus due to the fever and body aches.
I stayed out of work through Monday and felt so run down that it was almost like the flu. Of course two days after I got it, Jeff came down with it as well. He ended up missing an entire 3 day work cycle between all of our illnesses. What a miserable week! Finley ended up losing almost a pound even with the zofran. We are working on getting the weight back on, but it is a slow process. Poor baby! There is nothing worse than not being able to help her when she is so sick. I hope this is the end of sickness for a long, long time. Jeff spent and entire day disinfecting and cleaning the ENTIRE house once I was back at school and Finley was back at daycare. Thank goodness for him!
You are welcome. This is what happened to me and on me for days on end. Gross.
Poor sick baby.
The lovely mask at urgent care...ughhh....
Finley did not understand why Dada was on the couch and couldn't read to her.
